Scientific papers
INSPIRE HEP
The High-Energy Physics literature database (the successor of SPIRES). The reference tool to search papers, authors and citations in high-energy physics, cosmology and astrophysics.
arXiv
The open-access preprint server where new papers in physics, astrophysics and mathematics appear before (and after) journal publication.
Learning languages and scientific vocabulary
Kardamone (kardamone.eu) is an online platform and smartphone app for learning languages and vocabulary with spaced repetition: each word comes back at the right time so that it is remembered for good. Languages available: English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Dutch and Polish, from level A1 to C2, with phonetic transcriptions and audio pronunciation.
Kardamone works with several complementary tools:
- Flashcards: spaced-repetition cards to memorize words, expressions and facts.
- Vocabulary lists: ready-made lists by theme or level, or your own lists, which can be shared (for instance by a teacher, with individual progress tracking for each student).
- Grammar exercises: to practise grammar rules, not only words.
- Whole learning tracks: structured courses that guide you step by step from one level to the next.
- Document analysis: upload a text and extract its vocabulary to build a list from it.
It is especially useful for researchers and students: with its specialized scientific vocabulary lists you can progress in reading scientific articles in a foreign language (physics, astrophysics, cosmology, mathematics…), build lists directly from the papers you read, and prepare talks and papers in English.
