INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP

Physics and Astrophysics of Extra Dimensions

Paris, France

9 May-22 June 2001

supported by:

Extra dimensions in the context of particle physics, cosmology, and astrophysics is currently a very active research area. We are therefore organising in Paris a workshop to promote discussions on various aspects of the physics of extra dimensions. It will extend over the months of May and June this year. This workshop is a part of the scientific program which accompanies the creation of a new Institute centered around particle astrophysics and cosmology, planned to start in 2003 on the new Parisian campus of Universite Paris 7 in Tolbiac. It is also under the aegis of the European TMR program Supersymmetry and the Early Universe. The workshop aims at gathering experts in the field of extra dimensions to present their recent works and debate issues of common interest.

Specific conference-type events will be organised during the workshop to discuss the possible role of extra dimensions in (click on topic for preliminary schedules) Of course, these topics will also be covered throughout the workshop.

Individuals who have so far agreed to participate include:

I. Antoniadis, S. Carroll, A.-C. Davis, G. Dvali, J. Garriga, R. Gregory, M. Kachelriess, L. Kofman, J. Lykken, K. Maeda, R. Maartens, B. Ovrut, J. Ralston, L. Randall, V. Rubakov, A. Sagnotti, S. Sarkar, J. Silk, P. Steinhardt, T. Tanaka, D. Wands.

Further, a series of lectures for non-experts will be held during the workshop.

Preliminary schedules for the individual weeks can be found here:

If you wish to participate to part of the workshop, please contact us as soon as possible: Paris is a very popular place at this time of the year!

There will be no registration fee.

We would like to ask you to update your information on our registration page. It will help us greatly in organizing if you keep your information on that page up to date. Also, we need that information in order to finalize the schedules.

We would also like to ask you to make your own hotel reservations. Since spring is a touristic season in Paris we advise you to do that as soon as possible. A list of hotels with prize information suggested by the Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris (IAP) can be found here. A list of hotels suggested by the Collège de France can be found here. These hotels are all located in the Paris downtown area which is very well connected by subway. The individual meetings will mostly be hosted at the Collège de France, 11 place Marcelin Berthelot, 75231 Paris Cedex 05, France, which is also in the downtown area and therefore will be easily accessible from these hotels.

For transportation to the Southern Paris area (more specifically to IAP) see here. For getting from one place to another in the Paris downtown area see here.
